SABBATH QUOTE FOR A MONDAY
“Sabbath ceasing means to cease not only from work itself, but also from the need to accomplish and be productive, from the worry and tension that accompany our modern criterion of efficiency, from our efforts to be in control of our lives as if we were God, from our possessiveness and our enculturation, and, finally, from the humdrum and meaninglessness that result when life is pursued without the Lord at the center of it all.”

WE ARE ALL OF STUNNING LANDSCAPES
New Art Exhibit coming to JKPC
During the month of February, JKPC will be hosting an exhibit of works by the artist, Lindsey Schoeneman called “WE ARE ALL OF STUNNING LANDSCAPES.” Lindsey is an artist, art therapist, and mental health counselor based in the Pacific Northwest. She is a graduate of Antioch University Seattle with an MA in Counseling and Art Therapy; she earned her BFA in Photography and BA in French Studies from the University of Washington. Lindsey approaches creative expression as a practice in curiosity, intuition, self-confrontation, and as a conduit for compassion and empathy. Her practice in both art and counseling motivate her spirit and guide her engagement in social and ecological justice efforts.
Here is Lindsey’s statement about “WE ARE ALL OF STUNNING LANDSCAPES”: This collection of work explores the reflective interactions between inner and outer landscapes; it expresses the way I see metaphors exchanged between psychological spaces and the external natural world. I believe in the experience of aliveness as landscape, like weather, as moments of the moon, as wakeful and unconscious, and as dynamic encounters with paradox. My work is an effort to illuminate the mysterious, the nuanced, the nebulous, the intangible—the living of a life that asks us to embody the complexity of existence and remain open to what we do not know and what we cannot hold onto.
The Opening Reception for this exhibit will be on Friday, February 3rd at 7:00 p.m. in the JKPC Atrium. Meet Lindsey, hear more about her work, and enjoy some refreshments!
